Are You Experiencing Any Of These Thyroid Problems?
The thyroid is a small gland located under the skin just under the Adam’s apple. Despite its small size, the function of this gland should not be taken for granted. It is responsible for the majority of the vital processes in the body such as, calorie burning, temperature regulation, metabolization of fat and carbohydrates, and is involved in the circadian rhythm (sleep) among others. How does our thyroid do these? By producing hormones that serves as a catalyst for these processes. These hormones are called Thyroxine (T3) and Triiodothyronine (T4). It also produces another hormone, calcitonin, that is involved in the regulation of calcium in our system. Unfortunately, like other organs, the thyroid is fragile enough to be affected by a lot of factors that can lead to life-threatening conditions, if left untreated.
